Islamic cemetery, I am wondering more about Islamic Cemeteries. I have read that all bodies should be on their right side facing Mecca. But it seems like in some Islamic cemeteries, they must be facing head or feet first toward Mecca (Tunisia). It also seems like in some place Kufa, Iraq that the graves point in some other direction.

What proof do you have for the Kufa graves?

Interesting. I just checked this out on Google Earth. It appears that the main Kufa graveyard that dates back to the founding of the city is located at: 32°01'49.62" N 44°17'43.49" E. In the image below I have drawn a red line from Petra to the graveyard. The yellow line is from Mecca. It is an interesting observation. I have noticed other graveyards that also have a qibla direction to Petra but I am surprised at Kufa, since they sided with Ibn Zubayr against Damascus. Perhaps this is because the origins of the graveyard date back to before the qibla change.
